A group of five students — Dana, Jules, Curt, Holden, and Marty — set out for a remote cabin owned by Curt’s cousin. They believe they’re heading for a quiet weekend away, unaware that their journey is being monitored and manipulated by a vast underground organisation. This group oversees a yearly ritual designed to prevent an ancient catastrophe, and the five students have been chosen as the latest participants.

From the moment the group leaves home, subtle influences begin shaping their behaviour. Chemicals in their environment dull their judgement, heighten impulses, and push them toward specific roles: the Virgin, the Whore, the Athlete, the Scholar, and the Fool. Even their route is controlled, with an invisible barrier sealing the forest from the outside world.

At a rundown petrol station, they encounter Mordecai, a grim figure who warns them of danger. His warnings are genuine, but the organisation treats him as a formality — a required step in the ritual rather than a voice worth heeding.

The cabin itself is a trap disguised as a holiday home. Beneath it lies a cellar filled with strange artefacts, each one linked to a different nightmare. When Dana reads from the diary of Patience Buckner, she unknowingly summons the Buckner family — undead killers bound to the ritual through ancient suffering.
The Buckners attack swiftly. Jules is killed first, fulfilling the required order. Curt attempts to lead the others to safety, but the escape tunnel collapses, forcing him to try a desperate motorcycle jump across a ravine. He crashes into the invisible barrier and dies instantly. Holden is killed next, stabbed by a Buckner hiding in the RV.

Marty, however, survives. His constant cannabis use has made him resistant to the organisation’s chemical manipulation, allowing him to see through the illusions and traps. Mordecai had warned the organisation about Marty’s resistance, but they dismissed him — a mistake that seals their fate.
Marty discovers a hidden elevator beneath the cabin and brings Dana with him. Their descent reveals the truth: the organisation maintains a vast collection of monsters, each stored in its own containment cube. Any of them could have been unleashed depending on which artefact the group activated in the cellar.

Realising the scale of the deception, Dana and Marty infiltrate the control centre. In desperation, they trigger a full purge, releasing every creature in the facility. Chaos erupts as monsters flood the corridors, overwhelming the staff and tearing the organisation apart from within.
Dana and Marty eventually reach the deepest chamber, where the final stage of the ritual is meant to occur. There they meet the Director, who explains the true purpose of the ritual: the Ancient Ones beneath the Earth demand a yearly sacrifice of five archetypes. If the ritual fails, the Ancient Ones will rise and destroy the world. The Virgin may live or die, but the Fool must die.

Dana hesitates. Marty refuses. Their standoff is interrupted by a werewolf attack, and in the chaos, Patience Buckner appears once more, killing the Director. With no one left to complete the ritual, the final seal breaks.

The ground trembles. Fire rises. And from beneath the cabin, a colossal hand bursts through the earth — the hand of an Ancient One awakening after ages of slumber. The world ends in that moment, the long‑maintained balance finally collapsing.
