Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Season 1, Episode 7
Directed byScott Brazil

0:03 : This is the first episode to feature a “Previously on Buffy the Vampire Slayer” tag before the episode begins. It’s narrated by the same unknown voice artist that does the opening narration.

6:38 : One member of the Three reaches after Buffy and Angel as they reach the Summers house and his arm clearly passes the threshold, which shouldn’t be possible. This is also the first time the invitation rule in regards to vampires is mentioned.

22:36 : So, this is the first big change of the series and a great deal of Angel’s past is mentioned for the first time here, which makes this episode extremely important to the series’ lore as well as Angel‘s extensive backstory. For more information on timings and events, please see The Chronological Timeline.

28:09 : A scream is heard from inside the Summers house and Angel rushes inside. It’s Joyce’s scream at Darla’s appearance, but it’s reused audio of Sarah Michelle Gellar screaming from earlier in the episode.

40:33 : Angel’s turn away from Buffy into the darkness of the Bronze was also used for the first promo spot for the Angel spin-off.

43:27 : The song when Buffy and Angel kiss (and burn his chest) is Sophie Zelmani‘s “I’ll Remember You.”

Welcome to The Watcher’s Guide, a resource, quite fittingly, back from the dead!

The original website shut down in 2004, following the cancellation of Angel. But Buffy the Vampire Slayer was no flash in the pan. It inspired and changed the way television was made and 30 years later, we’re still discussing the show and hoping for something new from the creative universe built over 254 episodes.

Firefly and Dollhouse also brought unique looks at the human condition in a fresh and innovative way, with a science-fiction twist, just as the BuffyVerse dealt with fantasy.

This website aims to be the ultimate resource for the five Mutant Enemy produced shows, to preserve their legacy, their characters and share it with the generations that have come since…
