Alright, I’ll just jump in my time machine…

As Time Goes By

Whoa! Has it really only been two weeks since the last time we posted an update? It feels like longer as we’ve been working way too hard. It’s like having school on a Saturday!

Since we last spoke, we’ve finished Season Eleven! We’ve also added Tales to the website, a look at different Slayers and Vampires over the years, some familiar but others not, in brand new stories from across the BuffyVerse! We’ve also had a great response to our articles covering the Official Magazines, which is lovely. It’s nice to see old-school fans look back at the product lovingly, while the newbies fathom the vast history of our favourite Slayer!

Also, the Episode Spotlights have begun… and we’re having so much fun with our rewatch! We plan to release three a week, with Buffy twice, followed by a Firefly – although as you’ve noticed, sometimes we can’t resist and watch an extra episode (or three!). The same applies to Titan’s mag… we can’t just read one! So expect us to add more when the mood takes us…

There’s still no news on the upcoming spin-off, or even if it’s been picked up for series, but there are some tantalising rumours doing the rounds. At the present time, it seems the idea is to air the series in March 2027, the perfect time to air the show, as it’s the 30th Anniversary of the original series premiere.

We’re also keen to once again point out that Sarah Michelle Gellar, the Zuckermans and Chloe Zhao want this project to be perfect and won’t finish until it is. As a fandom, we certainly can appreciate their attention to detail, even if the wait is somewhat excruciating.

We’ve also heard that they’re having major discussions on the episode count. It could be the standard streaming amount (like The Mandalorian, six to eight episodes), but we hear Zhao wants more to increase the story potential. Think The Pitt, which has fifteen episodes a season on HBO Max.

Hopefully, we’ll hear more soon. Currently, Sarah Michelle Gellar can be seen on Star Search, streaming on Netflix where available.

Oh, and Nathan Fillion, we see what’s you’re doing over on Instagram… We’re watching you carefully.

Where Do We Go From Here?

As for now, the episode spotlights are the main attraction, until Season 12 is upon us. There’ll be a lot more Firefly for the Browncoats amongst you, with lots more stories and articles to come. And don’t forget, there’s also The Nevers and lots more archive interviews with the Buffy and Angel casts from the official magazines.

Our future, at least, is bright.

We’ve also changed some of the design on the opening page, making it, hopefully, somewhat more manageable. Or at least it should be easier to find things. Ish.

Okay, at this point you’re abusing sarcasm.

Here endeth the lesson.

Welcome to The Watcher’s Guide, a resource, quite fittingly, back from the dead!

The original website shut down in 2004, following the cancellation of Angel. But Buffy the Vampire Slayer was no flash in the pan. It inspired and changed the way television was made and 30 years later, we’re still discussing the show and hoping for something new from the creative universe built over 254 episodes.

Firefly and Dollhouse also brought unique looks at the human condition in a fresh and innovative way, with a science-fiction twist, just as the BuffyVerse dealt with fantasy.

This website aims to be the ultimate resource for the five Mutant Enemy produced shows, to preserve their legacy, their characters and share it with the generations that have come since…
