Captain Malcolm Reynolds

The son of a rancher, Mal Reynolds was brought up on the planet Shadow by his mother and a large amount of other helping hands, which leads to the obvious conclusion that Mal and his family were fairly well off.

He fought in the Unification War for the Independents as a soldier who commanded up to five thousand soldiers during the battle in Serenity valley on the planet Hera. The war was a pivotal moment for Mal. While it seemed that they would win the battle in Serenity Valley there wasn’t enough back up, and after all Mal had tried to do and he had to give himself up.

Since the war Mal has tried to operate as much under the radar as possible. First thing he did was to by a ship: he bought a Firefly-class transport ship and named her Serenity. He enlisted Zoë Alleyne as his first mate on the ship and brought in a crew, consisting of Jayne, Wash and Kaylee.

Together they did what they could to keep flying, took whichever jobs they can no matter how illegitimate. He will do whatever it takes for his ship and his crew. And will always stay away from the Alliance for as long as he can.

Welcome to The Watcher’s Guide, a resource, quite fittingly, back from the dead!

The original website shut down in 2004, following the cancellation of Angel. But Buffy the Vampire Slayer was no flash in the pan. It inspired and changed the way television was made and 30 years later, we’re still discussing the show and hoping for something new from the creative universe built over 254 episodes.

Firefly and Dollhouse also brought unique looks at the human condition in a fresh and innovative way, with a science-fiction twist, just as the BuffyVerse dealt with fantasy.

This website aims to be the ultimate resource for the five Mutant Enemy produced shows, to preserve their legacy, their characters and share it with the generations that have come since…
