Not much is known about the woman Mal Reynolds knows as Saffron, not even her real name. She’s a man-eater, who gets married to men in an effort to steal from them or to get some other property or item from their hefty fortunes. She encounters Mal when she ‘marries’ him after he saves her village from some outlaws and stows away on Serenity afterward, only to attempt to kill the crew and steal the ship. She returned later with another scheme to obtain an old weapon, a relic of it’s time, but she tried to betray them all again. However, this time, Inara was ready for her, outsmarted Saffron and left her in the trash, waiting for the authorities to arrive.
