Stake Out
Michelle Trachtenberg was delighted this month as she gushed about where Dawn would be going in season seven of the show: high school! But first, there was a long-running plotline that had to be dealt with first: “Obviously she has shown signs of being a kleptomaniac,” Michelle admitted. “Oh, that’s such a harsh word! I know that that storyline will reach a certain pinnacle – that Buffy and Dawn will have to deal with it in the way that they do.”
“She’ll be sixteen soon,” Michelle noted of her character. “She’s fifteen now and a freshman in high school. So after you get past freshman year, you’re kind of like, ‘OK, I’m good, I’m a sophomore, I’m better. I’m living and experiencing things,’ So that’s definitely in store for her.”
And while we were watching Buffy struggle in an institute that may or may not have been fictional, we were warned that Spike and Anya would find solace in each other’s arms in episode eighteen, while the title for episode nineteen was revealed as Seeing Red. And, oh boy, would we…
Over on Angel, Cordelia and Groo were off on holiday, with Charisma Carpenter on vacation. She would soon return though to take Cordelia into the season three finale, which would end up being kind of the last time we saw her… And with Cordelia gone, an earthquake signified to Wesley that an ancient prophecy was in place and in danger of coming to pass. By the end of the next two massive episodes, one member of Angel Investigations would be ostracised and nearly killed, another gone, maybe never to return, and Angel was more and more desperate to be reunited with his son…
Also this month, news came in of various other projects for the cast and crew. Marti Noxon had tried to secure Seth Green to return as Oz, she revealed, but Green’s commitments to Austin Powers and Greg the Bunny meant he wouldn’t have time. Amber Benson announced she would write a Willow and Tara story for the Buffy comic. And Tim Minear announced that not only was he working on the upcoming space series Firefly, but they had also found their leading man, one Nathan Fillion, who would soon be known throughout the whole gorram world.
And 24 years later, they’re about to do it all again… #bringbackfirefly
