1:19 : The Wattles mansion, an historical house and park in Los Angeles, is the real life location for the Delta Zeta Kappa House.
1:33 : Jordana Spiro plays Callie Megan Anderson. Her second ever guest starring role, she has since appeared in such shows as Dexter, The Good Wife and Ozark.
2:35 : Actor Greg Vaughan plays the cult member here, which means his character, Richard Anderson, is known to the viewers as soon as he’s seen again. His named is misspelt ‘Vaughn’ upon initial airing. Vaughan was Dan Gordon on Charmed and appeared alongside Charisma Carpenter before Buffy when both were regulars on Malibu Shores.
2:35 : And unless there is something extra twisted and creepy going on, we assume it’s coincidence that both captor and captive have the same surname of Anderson.

7:49 : Tom Warner, Buffy’s potential date, is played by Todd Babcock. He’s the kindest of the cult, which makes him the worst. Actor Babcock was also on Star Trek: Voyager, Grey’s Anatomy and it’s spin-off, Private Practice.
9:31 : Buffy tells Tom that history stumps her. She’s not lying, considering the trouble she has even going to class!
12:15 : We feel like it’s obvious anyway, but we’re going to point it out here: vampires can smell blood from a distance. Angel does it in this episode and everyone seems slightly surprised.
13:05 : Angel and Buffy discuss the potential of their relationship – and it’s brutal. He tells her that anything between them can only lead one way: to pain, upset and heartache…
13:05 : …which means Angel has just essentially described the back half of the season to us!

15:00 : The young man who becomes a member of the fraternity is unnamed. He’s played by Coby Bell, who went on to become a series regular on Walker and The Gifted.
21:05 : Cordelia is a horrifying driver in this episode, even more so than before! She has a collision – with a parked car! – and still blames someone else! Her license plate now has ‘QUEEN C’ on it.
21:05 : And while we’re on the subject of Cordelia, she told Buffy not to wear black to the party because it was her colour. Obviously Buffy completely ignores her, since she’s wearing black…
21:09 : …or Cordelia changed her mind – she’s not wearing black herself!
23:59 : The song that plays as Tom dances with Buffy is “She” by Louie Says.

33:26 : Willow asks the most important question ever: she asks Angel how he shaves without a reflection.
36:22 : Machida, a large, snake demon living underneath the Zeta Kappa House, has been granting profit and power to his followers for years, providing the fraternity gives him a sacrifice, preferably three high school females. Actor Robin Atkin Downes is underneath the make-up. More recently, he’s provided numerous voices for Disney and Marvel projects.
38:29 : Xander’s exact words to the fraternity brother (“Let me in”) shouldn’t be enough to allow Angel to enter here. However, in season four, Angel has no problem going in a dorm building, only the individual rooms, so we’re assuming that’s in place here.
40:06 : In a scene cut for length, at the end of the episode Machida would have risen again from his pit and bitten villain Tom before retreating back underground. Reportedly, part of the motivation for this was the writers wanting to keep the demon alive for use another day, but someone changed their minds…
41:35 : Danny Strong is back – two episodes in a row! – as Jonathan, and dates Cordelia briefly here. His character is named for the first time in dialogue.
42:41 : The chorus from “She” repeats here as Angel and Buffy agree to a cup of coffee.
