“Two by two; hands of blue…”

Played by Dennis Cockrum and Jeff Ricketts
First Appearance: The Train Job
They moved through the ‘verse like a rumour given shape: two figures, always two, hands sheathed in that impossible blue. Contractors to the Alliance, shadows of the Blue Sun machine, they were the custodians of the Academy’s darkest work — the ones sent to tidy up the human wreckage left in River Tam’s wake.
Their method was elegance turned monstrous. A sonic whisper, a device no wider than a palm, and every orifice became a wound. No hesitation, no mercy, not even for their own. Anyone who had touched River — soldier, doctor, bystander — was erased as cleanly as a corrupted file.
They were a pair in more than posture. Each organism carried a shared consciousness, a doubled mind that spoke without speaking, thought without dividing. Two bodies, one intent. A mirrored menace.
They weren’t hunters so much as instruments — the blue‑gloved hands of a system terrified of its own creation. And wherever River ran, they followed, silent, patient, inevitable.
