Never the End?

And that’s the word from Sarah Michelle Gellar as she informs the fans that despite trying, Hulu have decided not to go ahead with New Sunnydale or the upcoming Buffy revival.
This sucks, huh?
And on the eve of a Big Damn Announcement from the Firefly cast too.
We’re sure more news will come out shortly about the decision to not continue. To view Sarah’s original post you can go here. I’ve quoted it below.
“I am really sad to have to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me. Unfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with ‘Buffy: New Sunnydale.’ I want to thank Chloé Zhao because I never thought I would find myself back in Buffy’s stylish, yet affordable boots, and thanks to Chloé, I was reminded how much I love her and how much she means, not only to me, but to all of you. And this doesn’t change any of that. And I promise, if the apocalypse actually comes, you could still beep me.”
It may not be as over as we think though as DEADLINE also reported:
There had been talk about reworking the pilot. In the end, Hulu opted not to proceed with it but remains high on the Buffy IP and plans to regroup and mull a possible new incarnation of the beloved franchise.
Gellar was notified Friday night of the decision, which came as a surprise to her. Ryan Kiera Armstrong landed the lead opposite Gellar in the Buffy pilot, playing the new slayer in the untitled Buffyverse project, with Gellar reprising her signature role as Buffy Summers. The series regular cast also included Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso and Jack Cutmore-Scott. The reboot came from 20th Television and Searchlight TV.
Where Do We Go From Here?
We’re still going to continue. As we learnt a long time ago, You Can’t Stop the Signal – and we hardly doubt this is the last we’ll hear on the subject.

Until then, we’re ploughing forward with Episode Spotlights, Archived Interviews from the Official Magazine, and The Reckoning still to come.
And if tomorrow goes well, maybe some new Firefly to play with…?
And who knows, maybe another service will jump at the chance to bring Slaying back into our living rooms… We’ll cross our fingers.
Until next time,
— The Curator
