“I’ll be buggered if we’ll permit our nephew to die like some commoner who slips in the bath. Not without a fight.”
Lavinia Fairweather
“I know what you’d say. That after all these years we’re still using people. All we’re doing is helping them play the roles they so desperately want.“
Sophronia Fairweather

First Appearance: Women of a Certain Age
Sophie and Lavinia Fairweather were Rupert Giles’s great‑aunts — glamorous, troublesome, and magically inclined long before the Watchers Council ever tried to tame them. In 1964, they sought the Shard of Stronnos to restore their lovers, who had been transformed into beings of light. Their meddling accidentally unleashed a light demon, prompting young Rupert to intervene and reveal his own magical talent. Despite their disdain for the Watchers Academy, the sisters felt a lifelong responsibility toward him, quietly supplying him with spells, artefacts, and raw magical power whenever he needed it.
After Giles’s death, the sisters remained in his country house as he’d instructed, still entangled in debts to demons who had once kept them eternally youthful. When Angel and Faith sought to resurrect Giles, Sophie and Lavinia became unlikely allies — Lavinia supporting the resurrection as necessary for the world, Sophie fearing the consequences and urging Faith to stop Angel if he went too far. They used the Shard to restore Giles’s innocence as a child and later assisted Angel, Faith, and Alasdair Coames in completing the resurrection ritual. Even when Whistler, Pearl, and Nash came calling, the sisters held their ground with their usual mix of bravado and chaos.
With magic restored, Sophie and Lavinia became fixtures of Magic Town. They helped Angel track new threats, welcomed the resurrected Winifred Burkle into their home, and fought alongside Angel, Faith, Fred, and Eldre Koh to rescue Nadira from Drusilla and Archaeus. When Whistler’s magic plague disfigured civilians, the sisters offered comfort and guidance, proving that beneath their vanity and theatrics lay genuine compassion. The Fairweather sisters remained exactly what they had always been: unpredictable, loyal, and far more heroic than they ever let on.
