“Thing is I used to walk a beat around here, didn’t I? Now I can’t. The higher-ups say pull out of Magic Town. Let it police itself. That’s what I mean about not letting go, I guess. These are my streets and I don’t like being told otherwise.“

First Appearance: Where the River Meets the Sea (Part 2)
Before Magic Town became a supernatural hot zone, Detective Brandt patrolled Hackney as an ordinary London police officer. When a magical plague transformed the district into a haven for altered beings, most law enforcement abandoned the area. Brandt didn’t. Feeling a personal responsibility to the people left behind, he sought out Angel — the unlikely “sheriff” of Magic Town — and became one of the few humans willing to police a community the rest of the city had written off.
Brandt proved resourceful and steady, feeding Angel information on new threats and helping him navigate cases involving transformed criminals, rogue witches, and emerging vampire activity. He worked alongside Angel, Faith, and Fred during some of Magic Town’s earliest crises, trying to keep order in a place where the rules had changed overnight. For a time, he was one of the rare human anchors in a district drowning in chaos.
But Magic Town had its own predators. Brandt and several officers were eventually turned into vampires by Drusilla and Archaeus as part of a trap for Angel. When his betrayal was revealed — not by choice, but by blood — Faith was forced to dust him. His death underscored the brutal truth of Magic Town: even the good ones weren’t safe, and sometimes the line between protector and monster vanished in a heartbeat.
