The Official Magazines

The Official Buffy the Vampire Slayer Magazine began its run in October 1999, launched in the UK by Titan Magazines. Over the next six years it became a cornerstone of Buffy fandom, producing seventy‑five issues and two Annual Yearbooks, and even spawning a shorter American edition as the show’s popularity surged across the Atlantic. In September 2003, following a Special Issue dedicated to the spin‑off, Titan expanded its reach with The Official Angel Magazine. The two publications frequently shared resources, interviews and features, while Angel carved out its own identity with exclusive content and its own Yearbook.

When Angel Magazine concluded after a two‑year run, Titan folded the two titles together. Issue 76 of the Buffy magazine emerged under a new banner — Buffy the Vampire Slayer Magazine, Incorporating Angel. This unified publication continued until Issue 93, accompanied by an additional Yearbook, and ultimately concluded in July 2007. Remarkably, the magazine outlived both television series by four years, sustaining a vibrant community long after the final episodes had aired.

Across its lifespan, the magazine enjoyed unparalleled access to the cast and crew of both shows. Regulars, guest stars, writers, directors and designers all passed through its pages, offering insights that could only come from those who built the Buffyverse from the inside out. Alongside interviews, the magazine explored the wider world of television horror, delved into real‑life folklore and paranormal phenomena, and even printed the majority of the US Buffy comic, making it a vital repository of stories, commentary and behind‑the‑scenes lore.

What follows is a journey through each issue of the run — the features that defined them, the news as it broke, and the rare glimpses of production life that only come from standing on set and watching the magic take shape.
