Back to School!

Welcome back Watchers! It’s been a while. I hope you’re all recharged after a droll January!
Here at the Watcher’s Guide, we’re aware that there’s been no actual news for quite some time, although there have been some nuggets of info revealed about Buffy: New Sunnydale. Firstly, while being interviewed on the podcast Gloss Angeles, Sarah Michelle Gellar spoke candidly about the continuation, again declaring that she still might not commit to the project if it’s not perfect. Have no fear though, Sarah’s just looking out for the fans – and wants everything perfect for the new potential series.

The pilot for the new series was completed back in the summer of 2025. All projects take time, especially new ones resurrecting legacy heroines after all! We’d heard previously that the series could be aiming at a March 2027 release, to coincide with the original show’s 30th anniversary!

Another sneaky tidbit may have come from James Marsters, aka Spike, himself. Interviewed by Charisma Carpenter on the latest episode of her podcast, covering his debut episode School Hard, James revealed he had been approached about a possible appearance. Keep your fingers crossed, folks…
Where Do We Go From Here?

Now, onto the future of the site. There’s still a lot more to come from Buffy and the Scoobies as they attempt to restore law and order to San Francisco. But, as you can imagine, doing that from inside a prison camp is easier said than done!

Then we’re onto Angel Season Eleven, a wacky time travel tale full of surprises as Angel and Illyria travel back in time – and confront Angelus and Darla in 1753! We’re also preparing to overhaul the Firefly portion of the site soon, with comic synopsis and a chronology of the ‘Verse!
There’ll be more updates to the Buffy Chronology as the Canon Comics speed towards their conclusion with The Reckoning later this year! And we’re also updating the character biographies and graphics as we go!

There’s also going to be a look at the Official Buffy the Vampire Slayer Magazine that Titan Magazines published when the shows were on the air – and some of the archive interviews will end up here! – as well as planned Episode Spotlights, where we’ll dissect a particular episode, line-by-line, moment-by-moment. Think of it like a downloadable Text Commentary.
It’s going to be a huge deep dive – and soon, you’ll get to choose the episodes! But obviously, we’re starting at the beginning, with Welcome to the Hellmouth, coming soon.

And just to cap it off, The Nevers is also being added to the website shortly too!
Whew! We’re going to be busy at Watcher Central.

See you in 2026!
Got a bit of schlub on your shoe there.
