The Canonical Comics

“To read makes our speaking English… good.”
Xander (‘I Robot, You Jane’)

So, what happened after the events of Buffy and Angel? Did Angel and his team survive the destruction of their offices and their encounter with the demons in the alley? Who lived? Who died? And what happened to Los Angeles?

Luckily, Whedon and several comic alumni were tasked to tell the story. It began straight away in the alley behind the Hyperion and before you knew it the story exploded! We saw the return of Buffy and the Scooby Gang in canonical adventures, set after the fall of Sunnydale and reintroducing several familiar faces along the way!

Unexpected developments were the norm as Whedon and company crafted new tales, furthering the story. Watch Buffy and Faith as they continue their journeys, training new Slayers to defend the world – all while living on top of each other and dealing with the Forces of Darkness! Willow, Spike and Giles also received their own titles that added to the main books. From the return of some old (and we mean old) enemies, some reunions with acquaintances long forgotten – and of course, a resurrection or two – the comics were eagerly snapped up by fans and can be quite rare to physically find, some of them!

So follow the journey from that alley way behind the Hyperion, to Scotland, to Nevada, Sunnydale, Quor’toth, London, Tibet and even Hell itself. And that’s before it all ties up in a finale that takes us all the way to the 23rd century and back again!

Welcome to the canonical continuations…

Welcome to The Watcher’s Guide, a resource, quite fittingly, back from the dead!

The original website shut down in 2004, following the cancellation of Angel. But Buffy the Vampire Slayer was no flash in the pan. It inspired and changed the way television was made and 30 years later, we’re still discussing the show and hoping for something new from the creative universe built over 254 episodes.

Firefly and Dollhouse also brought unique looks at the human condition in a fresh and innovative way, with a science-fiction twist, just as the BuffyVerse dealt with fantasy.

This website aims to be the ultimate resource for the five Mutant Enemy produced shows, to preserve their legacy, their characters and share it with the generations that have come since…
