Zoë Alleyne was brought up on a ship, although she only mentions this to her husband Wash. The only other survivor of Mal’s platoon from the war, Zoë is Mal’s first mate. She runs all of the main missions with Mal as his right hand man.

She met her husband while on Serenity, her husband being the pilot Wash. At first sight and meeting with Wash she didn’t like him – she didn’t want him piloting the ship, let alone have thoughts about him being her husband. But that happened somewhere down the line and the two are happily married.

Zoë’s the soldier of the crew, and when she takes her orders from Mal, she never sways from them.
