Gwen Raiden

“I’m fibbing. It’s lying, only classier.”

Electrifying in more ways than one, Gwen Raiden was a thief with the unique ability to generate and manipulate electricity. Her powers, gained from a childhood accident, isolated her from others, making physical touch dangerous and leaving her with a sense of loneliness. Despite her criminal activities, Gwen’s heart remained compassionate, often showing a desire to help others in need. Her path crossed with Angel’s team, leading to a complicated alliance as she grappled with her sense of morality.

Gwen was at the beach with her boyfriend Nate in Santa Monica when Los Angeles was suddenly sent to Hell by the Senior Partners. The Fall of Los Angeles caused L.I.S.A. to malfunction, and in the chaos Gwen accidentally killed Nate when her powers surged out of control. Grief‑stricken and furious, she walked away from the shoreline determined to uncover what had happened to her city.

In the days that followed, Gwen joined Nina and Connor in rescuing survivors and offering sanctuary to both humans and peaceful demons in an abandoned Santa Monica hotel. With Angel’s help, the group eventually relocated to the Hyperion Hotel, where Gwen found a renewed sense of purpose — and, unexpectedly, a romantic connection with Connor.

Her loyalties, however, were never simple. Gwen betrayed Team Angel to Gunn, who had become a vampire and had already recruited her before she began working alongside Connor. Yet even this betrayal could not define her. When the legions of dragons unleashed by Wolfram & Hart descended upon the city, Gwen sacrificed herself to destroy part of the invading force, ensuring Connor’s escape.

In the end, Gwen’s story did not end in the flames of her final stand. When Wolfram & Hart rewound reality through the temporal fold designed to undo the Fall of Los Angeles, she was restored along with the rest of the city — her fate reset, her future once again unwritten.

Angel AFTER THE FALL

Welcome to The Watcher’s Guide, a resource, quite fittingly, back from the dead!

The original website shut down in 2004, following the cancellation of Angel. But Buffy the Vampire Slayer was no flash in the pan. It inspired and changed the way television was made and 30 years later, we’re still discussing the show and hoping for something new from the creative universe built over 254 episodes.

Firefly and Dollhouse also brought unique looks at the human condition in a fresh and innovative way, with a science-fiction twist, just as the BuffyVerse dealt with fantasy.

This website aims to be the ultimate resource for the five Mutant Enemy produced shows, to preserve their legacy, their characters and share it with the generations that have come since…
