Roger & Trish Burkle

“Well, frankly, Angel, I don’t care if you drink pig’s blood, cow’s blood, or those froofy little imported beers. You saved my little girl.”
Roger Burkle

“I mean, Rog’s always had a thing for those disgusting “Alien” movies, with all that slime and teeth. Ugh, he just can’t get enough of them. Except for that last one they made – I think he dozed off.”
Trish Burkle

Kind-hearted and grounded, Roger and Trish Burkle did everything they could to provide a nurturing environment for their daughter, Winifred ‘Fred’ Burkle. Proud parents and loving partners, they were shattered when Fred vanished without a trace, taken to the hellish dimension of Pylea.

For years, they clung to hope and searched tirelessly, only to finally reunite with their daughter after Angel and his team rescued her. Though Fred had changed – scarred by the horrors she endured – Roger and Trish accepted her unconditionally, offering her the stability and warmth of home.

Tragically, their joy was short-lived when Fred fell victim to the parasitic demon Illyria, leaving them unaware of the loss of their daughter yet again. When they visited Wolfram ad Hart for a surprise visit, Illyria coldly assumed their daughter’s form, unwilling to experience human grief.

Some time later, Fred’s uncle Morton’s passed and the Burkles contacted their daughter again, asking her to attend the funeral. Illyria attended, curious of the human experience, accompanied by Charles Gunn. Though surprised by her daughter’s radical change in make-up, they remained none the wiser, telling Gunn that after so long, Fred could turn up looking like anything and still be welcomed home with love.

Welcome to The Watcher’s Guide, a resource, quite fittingly, back from the dead!

The original website shut down in 2004, following the cancellation of Angel. But Buffy the Vampire Slayer was no flash in the pan. It inspired and changed the way television was made and 30 years later, we’re still discussing the show and hoping for something new from the creative universe built over 254 episodes.

Firefly and Dollhouse also brought unique looks at the human condition in a fresh and innovative way, with a science-fiction twist, just as the BuffyVerse dealt with fantasy.

This website aims to be the ultimate resource for the five Mutant Enemy produced shows, to preserve their legacy, their characters and share it with the generations that have come since…
