After escaping from a vicious Hell dimension in the early part of the season, both Buffy and Angel found themselves back in Sunnydale, where they reunited with the Scooby Gang on the eve of the Ascension, a powerful ritual designed to bring forth the demon Olvikan into the body of Sunnydale’s respected Mayor, Richard Wilkins III. The Mayor’s devious plan took place on the graduation ceremony for Buffy’s class, and in an intense battle, Buffy saw in the end of high school with a bang… literally.

Also, this season saw major changes for the future, as both Angel and Cordelia separately left for Los Angeles, and the rogue Slayer Faith arrived in town to upset the status quo with sex, intrigue and murder…
