“You taste like strawberries.“

Played by Jeff Kober
First Appearance: Wrecked
Rack was a powerful dealer in dark magic, running an operation that catered to those addicted to supernatural highs. His lair shifted locations and was hidden from ordinary perception, accessible only to those he allowed inside. He recognised Amy Madison’s transformation into a rat long before anyone else and seemed to have played a role in nurturing her interest in magic. Rack took a particular interest in Willow Rosenberg, supplying her with increasingly potent doses of dark power. When Willow sought the strength to take vengeance on Warren Mears, she drained Rack completely, apparently killing him.
Instead, Rack survived. Stripped of his power and left in a coma for a month, he eventually regained his magic and found himself wandering alternate dimensions. When the end of magic trapped him in a mystical realm, he encountered Willow again — this time disguised as a demon named Marrak. He earned her trust by rescuing her from wing‑heads, creatures that carried Earth’s dreams and nightmares, and became her travelling companion on her quest to restore magic to their world.

As they journeyed, Willow reunited with her former lover Aluwyn and the “super coven” of travelling witches. Marrak tried to keep Willow focused on her mission, but his bluntness saw him banished from their paradise. He later infiltrated Willow’s dreams using the wing‑heads, warning her that the paradise was an illusion designed to keep her complacent while Earth suffered. His message struck home, and Willow left Aluwyn to continue her mission.
When Willow returned to Marrak’s company, she found him transformed — swollen with the dark magic he had absorbed from the wing‑heads. In that moment she recognised him for who he truly was: Rack, the dealer she had once drained. She attacked him, blasting away his disguise and revealing his true form. Enraged, Rack vowed to steal Willow’s magic just as she had stolen his, determined to reclaim the power he believed she owed him.

Their confrontation escalated into a metaphysical duel that hurled them into a mystical embodiment of the universe itself. There, the universe’s “antibodies” reacted to Rack’s corruption, attacking him as a harmful presence. Willow, having learned balance and restraint, endured the trial, while Rack — still driven by greed and addiction — was overwhelmed and torn away by the cosmic forces he had provoked.
In the end, Rack’s downfall mirrored the nature of his power: parasitic, corrosive and unsustainable. Where Willow grew beyond her addiction, Rack remained defined by it, and the universe itself rejected him. His final defeat closed the arc of a figure who had once thrived in the shadows between worlds, undone at last by the very forces he sought to exploit.
