The friendly, overtly generous, but occasionally eccentric principal of Sunnydale High, Bob Flutie was prepared to let Buffy Summers start her time at Sunnydale High with a clean slate upon her transfer from Hemery High. He changed his mind when he discovered that she had burned down the gymnasium in her former school. Concerned with school spirit and student moral, Flutie also had a strict stance on bullying and, a few weeks after her arrival at Sunnydale High, Buffy encountered a group of students that had been possessed by the spirits of hyenas. These students consumed the school mascot, Herbert the Pig, and later, after Flutie approached them about their actions, they ate him as well. The official theory was that wild dogs somehow got into his office, but Flutie was always remembered by a bust of the principal that sat in the hallways of Sunnydale High.
