Lorne

I can hold a note for a long time, actually I can hold a note forever.

Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan — Lorne to his friends — was born in the dimension of Pylea, where music was forbidden, individuality discouraged, and violence woven into daily life. A gentle soul in a brutal world, Lorne rejected his clan’s traditions and longed for colour, rhythm and freedom. A chance encounter with an interdimensional portal hurled him into Los Angeles, where he embraced humanity’s chaos with open arms. Reinventing himself as Lorne, he opened Caritas, a karaoke bar and sanctuary where demons and humans could coexist under a strict no‑violence policy.

With his unique ability to read destinies through song, Lorne became an indispensable ally to Angel Investigations. He offered guidance, humour and emotional clarity, often seeing truths his friends couldn’t face. Though he avoided combat whenever possible, his loyalty to Angel and the team never wavered. Yet the fight against Wolfram & Hart took its toll. In the final battle against the Circle of the Black Thorn, Lorne carried out Angel’s darkest order — killing Lindsey McDonald — and walked away from the team, shaken by what he had done.

When Los Angeles was dragged into hell by the Senior Partners, Lorne wandered the ruined city in despair. Fleeing in a demonic taxi that was quickly destroyed, he found himself in Silver Lake, where ordinary civilians were fighting back against invading demons. Inspired by their courage, Lorne used his vocal powers to help them carve out a demon‑free sanctuary. The survivors elected him their leader, and he devoted himself to protecting the vulnerable, building an oasis of safety in a city consumed by chaos.

Though he tried to remain neutral for Silver Lake’s sake, Lorne kept watch over Angel and the others through a mystical sphere. When Angel battled the Demon Lords, Lorne quietly sent the Groosalugg to assist. After Angel defeated the Lords, Lorne was chosen as ruler of all Los Angeles — a role he accepted reluctantly but fulfilled with compassion. When Angel later manipulated Gunn into killing him to force a temporal reset, the Senior Partners restored the city to Earth. Everyone retained their memories of the Fall, and Lorne became a celebrated hero, even as he remained quietly haunted by what he had endured.

In the aftermath, Lorne stayed in Silver Lake, helping protect Gunn as he recovered in the hospital. He continued to serve as a stabilising presence in the fractured city, offering guidance and comfort to those still grappling with the trauma of the Fall. But his greatest test came when three elder beings — Disharmony, Discord and Cacophony — entered the dimension, threatening to destabilise the sonic frequency that underpinned reality itself.

Realising that only he could hold the cosmic note needed to keep the universe from collapsing, Lorne made the ultimate sacrifice. He leapt into a dimensional breach and allowed himself to evolve into a higher being, sustaining the harmonic balance that kept existence intact. It was a final act of grace from a demon who had always believed in the healing power of music, community and kindness.
