Janna Kalderash was sent to Sunnydale by her people, the Romany gypsies, for one purpose: to watch Angel and ensure that he suffered for his past crimes, including the death of an important daughter of their clan. While in Sunnydale, under the guise of Jenny Calendar, she fell in love with Rupert Giles, the Watcher of the Slayer, and aided him in casting the demon Moloch the Corrupter from the Internet. Joining the Scooby Gang and aiding them in their battles against Spike and Drusilla, Jenny’s true allegiances were revealed when she became aware that Angelus was back, having lost his soul in a moment of bliss with Buffy. Enraged by her betrayal, Jenny was ostracised from the group and became distant. By the time she began to be accepted again, Jenny worked on a way to restore Angel’s soul, but Drusilla discovered her plan and in an attempt to prevent her, Angelus murdered Jenny in the school after she had completed her research. Leaving Jenny’s corpse in Giles’s bed, Angelus left the scene, but was unaware that Jenny had saved her work onto disk, which Willow would later find and use to restore Angel’s soul.
