INFORMATION

The origins of Halfrek remain unknown, but what we do know of her comes mostly from her conversations with fellow vengeance demon Anyanka, who in 1998 became Anya Jenkins in Sunnydale, California after losing her demon powers. From their conversations, it was revealed that Halfrek had seen at the Crimean War of 1853, and was also present with Anyanka at the start of the Russian Revolution in 1905. At one point, Halfrek impersonated an upper class woman named Cecily Addams, and was in this guise long enough for the human William Pratt to fall in love with her. Halfrek rejected William, which send him spiralling into the arms of the vampire Drusilla, who transformed him into Spike. Halfrek was reunited with Anya for her wedding to Xander, and also stayed around down after Anya became Anyanka again. When Anyanka set events in motion that killed twelve members of a fraternity, she was so distraught that she asked D’Hoffryn to take the wish back. The spell came at a price, and rather than murder Anya, D’Hoffryn executed Halfrek in front of her.
