A demon of unknown species, Doc appeared to be an old man, slightly eccentric and knowledgeable in the dark arts. It was he that Spike and Dawn approached in an attempt to resurrect Joyce Summers after her tragic death. He possessed a prehensile tail, as well as an extended tongue, and his eyes also closed inwards. Eventually, the Scooby Gang learned that Doc was a supporter of Glory and he tried to prevent Xander and Spike from stopping the God. He was presumed dead after Xander stabbed him through the chest, but he later appeared alive and started the ritual that opened the dimensional gate to Glory’s home dimension, a ritual that ended in Buffy’s death. However, before Doc could witness the results of the ritual, Buffy pushed him from the tower they were upon. It’s unknown whether or not Doc survived.
