“It’s getting bad here. Really bad. Hellmouth acting up again. People feeling it, getting crazier. You can’t swing a cat without hitting some kind of demonic activity. Not that I swing cats, or eat. Nope. Cutting way back. Cholesterol- Morals! I mean morals.”

Also known as Clement
Played by James C. Leary
First Appearance: Life Serial
An unknown species of demon, Clem first met Buffy when his good friend Spike brought her to the weekly poker game, where the stakes were raised with kittens. Shortly afterwards, he attended Buffy’s twenty‑first birthday party and continued his friendships with Buffy and Spike to the point where he offered advice to them both. When Buffy needed someone to watch Dawn while she tracked down a vengeful Willow, Clem offered his services, though he was unable to stop Dawn from following her instincts and attempting to find Willow herself. Presumably, he alerted Buffy to Dawn’s whereabouts, which undoubtedly saved her life. In 2003, feeling that there was nothing left in Sunnydale but evil rising from the Hellmouth, Clem left for places unknown, promising to return if — or when — Buffy saved the world.

Months later, Clem resurfaced as a cast member of Harmony Bites, a reality television show starring vampire and former Sunnydale resident Harmony Kendall, serving as her low‑paid personal assistant. When the show was cancelled, he and Harmony relocated to London to continue pursuing her reality‑TV ambitions, which soon included a judging spot on Britain’s Got Talent. When Harmony was blackmailed with a sex tape showing her siring a lover, the pair sought help from Angel and Faith Lehane. The investigation revealed that Clem himself was the blackmailer; he confessed that he had hoped to win Harmony’s love by solving the case he had engineered. Though she rejected his romantic overtures, Harmony forgave him and agreed to give him a raise — provided Simon Cowell paid his salary rather than her.
Back in California, Clem reunited with Buffy and Spike in San Francisco while Harmony negotiated for the new breed of vampires to retain their powers. Harmony then stole the Slayer Handbook, intending to use it to create magical rules that would make her the most beloved person on Earth. Clem argued that she deserved to be loved for who she was, not through enchantment. Despite this, he used the handbook to make unicorns real, much to Harmony’s delight.

At VampCon, Clem officiated a traditional trial by combat designed to strengthen the alliance between humans and demons, overseeing Buffy’s victory against Golgotha and Spike’s triumph over an unnamed challenger. At the following VampCon, he filmed Harmony’s documentary chronicling the changes the vampire community had undergone in recent years.
During the Supernatural Crisis Act, Clem accompanied Harmony on an international tour and remained outside the United States, becoming an expatriate. In Paris, the pair ignored the escalating events unfolding in America, choosing instead to continue their peculiar, affectionate, and ever‑chaotic partnership.
