Anne Steele

“A few years ago it would have been a big turn on. I thought vampires were the coolest.”

The runaway girl originally known as Joan has lived a varied life, running away from everything life threw at her, falling in with the wrong crowds. When she first encountered Buffy, Joan was calling herself Chanterelle and following Billy Fordham, desperate to become a vampire and live forever. An encounter with Spike almost killed her and Chanterelle fled to Los Angeles and changed her name to Lily. She later encountered Buffy again, and following a revolt led by the pair in a Hell dimension they had been held captive in, Lily changed her name one final time to Anne Steele, after Buffy’s middle name.

Anne later opened the East Hills Teen Centre for runaway children. During this time, she encountered Angel, who she had briefly met in Sunnydale.

In 2004, Anne moved her home to another part of Los Angeles, despite the fact that Charles Gunn warned her that it was all for nothing and that the apocalypse was coming. Anne’s resolve was not weakened however, and she continued to fight the good fight in her own way.

Welcome to The Watcher’s Guide, a resource, quite fittingly, back from the dead!

The original website shut down in 2004, following the cancellation of Angel. But Buffy the Vampire Slayer was no flash in the pan. It inspired and changed the way television was made and 30 years later, we’re still discussing the show and hoping for something new from the creative universe built over 254 episodes.

Firefly and Dollhouse also brought unique looks at the human condition in a fresh and innovative way, with a science-fiction twist, just as the BuffyVerse dealt with fantasy.

This website aims to be the ultimate resource for the five Mutant Enemy produced shows, to preserve their legacy, their characters and share it with the generations that have come since…
